I heard someone say once, when people are diagnosed with MS, the first even they hear about is the Walk and that stuck with me. I was diagnosed with MS in 2014 and by the time 205 had rolled around, Team Tasha had mobilized and has been going strong since.
Team Tasha's Inaugural MS Walk. The motto: Getting On My Nerves was born. I began the tradition of creating a cool design for our team shirts. #OnMyNerves
That shirt was a hit. We won Best Team Tent and I was also named a "High Roller" having raised over $3,000
Year Two, trying to top the first year. "Chomping Away at MS" with a Pacman Theme! That year I even got to participate in the Walk MS Baton Rouge.
Our team didn't raise as much but the Walk was, as always, a huge success!
The 3rd year was our "MS Super Friends" - Fighting Against MS theme where we played on the comic book characters.
We won Best Team Tent and Best Team Shirt!
This year I took my talents up to Hamilton, NJ and participated in the walk there as well.
Our 4th year we went with the Mardi Gras theme. "Laissez Les Bon Temps Rouler" Let The Good Times Roll!
Guess what? We won Best Team Tent!
Year five was a slow year but the team rallied together. Our theme, Play To Win was my boost to say, fight to the finish. It was supposed to be a Dr. Seuss/Cat In The Hat theme. Anyway, we wore our "favorite teams" and, although a dreary day, we made it work and raised over $1,000.
I also participated in Walk MS Puerto Rico
Who knew our 6th year would be Virtual. Ode to T-shirts' past, we wore our favorite shirts, donned our masks and participated in a socially distant walk. Our fundraising efforts didn't go unnoticed. I was one of the top fundraisers locally.
"Move Forward, Your Way"
We're doing it virtually again. Walk at home. Walk at the Gym. Walk in your neighborhood. Walk in the Mall. Whatever suites your fancy, join me in walking. Our Theme this year is "Globetrotting For MS". Our goal is to get donations from all across the world.
I raised over $2,500.00!!
By now, there is no longer an official walk in Tallahassee but I was determined to host one. The new "walk your way" experience was how we handled things. We banned together to try to bring the community out for a walk. We were small but mighty! The TLH MS Group was not involved.
No shirt, no problem. Just show up!
Our TLH MS Group has been able to reach more members and were able to bring more people together for our walk experience.
Team Tasha pulled out the old shirts and came out to support. .
We're growing! Our walk experience has moved to the Fairgrounds and the team shirts are back. This year we're "Rockin MS" and even had a spot dedicated to my biggest fan, my mama!
No LiMitS
10 years of Walk experiences. An old to being Bout Bout, lol, the No Limit Soldiers era... when this design came to me, everything clicked! Army fatigue and orange.
The On My Nerves, Inc brand (led by me) was the official presenting sponsor of this year's event. Team Tasha raised $1805 and there's still time to donate.
To Be Determined
